Share the journey
The Australian Breastfeeding Association is delighted to announce that our annual Baby's Day Out will be held on Sunday, 29 October 2017.
Breastfeeding is not a one-woman job. Mothers need assistance and support from their health care providers, family and friends, employers, colleagues, communities, and governments so they can provide their children with the healthiest start to life. Following on from the World Breastfeeding Week theme ‘Sustaining Breastfeeding Together’, ABA is encouraging mothers to celebrate sustainability by recognising and acknowledging the partnerships that have helped them on their breastfeeding journey. Together, we can support women to breastfeed and protect the health and wellbeing of future generations.
Socialising with others is a fantastic way to share experiences and extend support to mums who may not feel as comfortable feeding in public. Baby’s Day Out gives mothers the perfect opportunity to engage with fellow mums and their peers, advocate for a breastfeeding inclusive society and celebrate their ability to nurture their babies anywhere they choose. In doing so, we are contributing to the world’s Sustainable Development Goals and celebrating breastfeeding as a normal, natural way of life.
We invite everyone to participate in Baby's Day Out, and there are a number of ways in which you can do so.
Attend a Local ABA event

Host your own Baby's Day Out event
This year, we are inviting you to host your own Baby's Day Out event for your family and friends! Set up a fundraising page and encourage people in your life to support the ABA.
If you are in need of some inspiration, here are some ideas:
- A walk & a picnic lunch in your local park
- A play date at your local swim school
- A morning tea at the playground
- A mums & bubs yoga or exercise class
- A coffee & cake date at your favourite cafe
- A lunch or afternoon tea surrounded by nature - pick a scenic spot near you such as a lake or by the beach
- A pyjama or lounge around party in your own living room
Once you have your idea, the next step is to set up a fundraising page via GoFundraise. You can use the ABA National Office fundraising page as an example. You can also refer here for instructions on setting up a page.
We have developed Baby's Day Out marketing and promotional material for your use (please refer to the attachments at the end of this page). This includes web banners for your fundraising page, the Baby's Day Out logo, a poster and images to share on your social media pages.
Please keep in mind that events do not necessarily need to be held on Sunday, 29 October - you can host yours at any time throughout the month! Remember to take photos and share them with us at email@example.com or via our social media pages below.
Follow us on social media to keep up to date with Baby's Day Out.
You can also email the team: firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember! Your small donation will make a big difference.
Money raised will go towards resources for next year's event. Baby's Day Out will provide families with local networks and benefit the whole community.
Baby's Day Out appreciates any donations collected, and suggest a gold coin donation per adult. This is also an opportunity for local fundraising, by including things such as a sausage sizzle, or cake stall at your Baby's Day Out get- together. Raise local funds and encourage mums to make new friends.
