World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August) 2016 theme is "Breastfeeding: a key to Sustainable Development"

While most mothers know that breastfeeding is important to them and their baby, not as many know how important breastfeeding is to our environment. Following on from the World Breastfeeding Week theme, let’s chat about the environmental impact and sustainability of breastfeeding.

We encourage all mothers and pregnant women to come along (visitors are very welcome) to share your experiences, ask questions and share your concerns, or simply sit back and take in the wealth of knowledge in the room.

Our beautiful venue is at 27 Waterloo St, Cleveland. It is on the ground floor, with undercover space outside to leave prams if needed. Inside is airconditioned, is beautifully setup with pillows and cushions, plus toys for our little ones to explore. Please bring a gold coin donation to help cover the cost of room hire.

This is a very safe, comfortable environment for us and our little ones.

Tea and coffee will be available, please bring a plate of food to share for morning tea (IMPORTANT: please do not bring food containing eggs or peanuts. This beautiful space is used mostly by the Redlands Community Hub and their playgroups, and there is a child who attends with severe allergies to these.)

Parking: we suggest everyone park in the vacant block of land next to the St James Church. You can access this from Russell Street and then it is a 2min walk to the centre. The land is owned by the church and this is where we are all encouraged to park.

There will be a qualified breastfeeding counsellor present to assist with any individual questions or concerns.

Illness: please be aware that we try to create a safe environment for everyone at our meetings. This often includes newborn babies who are very susceptible to illness. To help us with this, if you or your child are unwell please refrain from attending the meeting. Additionally, if your child becomes sick following a meeting, please email to advise Amelia (abaredlandsgroup@gmail.com)
