Welcome to our group

In the interest of our community’s health and safety, The Blacktown Group has decided to temporarily suspend our in-person Group Meetings while the COVID-19 outbreak is ongoing.

Should you require assistance with regard to breastfeeding information and support, please call the Breastfeeding Helpline on 1800 686 268 tor access Live Chat via our website at breastfeeding.asn.au.

Our group offers information and support in our roles as parents. Come along and meet new friends, chat with mothers who have 'been there' and connect with trained breastfeeding volunteers.  Whether you're fully breastfeeding, partially breastfeeding, expressing or bottle feeding, it’s great to chat to other mums and get those hints and tips that only other mums know!

With the current restrictions on in-person gatherings, many local groups across Australia are running virtual and online get-togethers. You can view our national calendar of events to find a full listing, and attend a group anywhere in Australia.

The Blacktown group meets twice a month. We meet on most  2nd Tuesdays of the month at the Blacktown Women and Girl's Health Centre, Prince St, Blacktown. We also meet most 4th Tuesdays at the  Seven Hills ECHC, Boomerang Place, Seven Hills. Our meetings are from 10am-12pm

Everyone is welcome to attend their local group. Whether you are pregnant, fully breastfeeding, partially breastfeeding, expressing or bottle-feeding you will be welcomed. Partners, friends and grandparents are also welcome to come along.

ABA members can attend unlimited get-togethers anywhere in Australia. Non-members are more than welcome and encouraged to attend as a visitor. If you enjoy attending your local group, please consider becoming a member of ABA as it is only through membership that ABA has the funds to continue to provide its services.

Our social gatherings are very informal and while a nominated topic is set for each date, there is always an opportunity to discuss other topics of interest within the group or individually with a counsellor.

- What is a group get-together like?
* Friendly, informal gatherings where you are always welcome
* Meet other mums juggling similar issues to you
* The opportunity to learn about breastfeeding
* Up-to-date breastfeeding & parenting information
* Practical ideas, tips and suggestions
* Acceptance of you and your parenting goals
* Trained counsellors to answer your personal breastfeeding questions and concerns
* An extensive library of breastfeeding and parenting resources for loan, including an assortment of DVDs and books by various authors including James McKenna, Pinky McKay, Rapley  and more

Everyone is welcome at our get-togethers, regardless of how you feed your baby.

We meet from 10am - noon but this is flexible. Please arrive when motherly possible; we all know how hard it is to be on time with a baby.

Tea and coffee will be provided, however, if possible, a small plate of morning tea would be appreciated. We cannot guarantee that all food at meetings will be allergen free, please notify the counsellor taking the meeting if your child has a food allergy.

If you are having a good day please bring a plate to share

Please take a look at our diary dates - we'd love to meet you and your baby/child(ren) or get in touch with us any time!
