Southern Lakes, WA
Welcome to our group
Our group offers fortnightly catch-ups, information and support. Come along and meet new friends, chat with mothers who have 'been there' and connect with trained breastfeeding volunteers.
We have a public Facebook page with topics for online events and information https://www.facebook.com/Abasouthernlakes/
With the current restrictions on in-person gatherings, many local groups across Australia are running virtual and online get-togethers. You can view our national calendar of events to find a full listing, and attend a group anywhere in Australia.
Where we are
Our group covers many southern suburbs of Perth. These include, but are not limited to - Armadale, Gosnells, Roleystone, Byford, Harrisdale, Bibra Lake, Cockburn Central, Jandakot, Naval Base, Coogee, Henderson, Rockingham, Kwinana, Mandurah and surrounding areas.
More about our group
Our group meets fortnightly on Mondays in Beeliar. We have information sessions, discussions and mums group catch ups, available to view in our events here: https://www.facebook.com/Abasouthernlakes/
We also may have them listed in our group calendar.
Each catch-up usually involves a guided discussion of a breastfeeding-related topic and an opportunity to enjoy an informal chat with other mums and trained breastfeeding counsellors. All parents, children, friends and family are welcome. There is no such thing as late to an ABA meeting.
We really value mum2mum support and welcome parents wherever they are in their parenting journey from pregnancy and beyond, regardless of how their baby is being fed. You don’t need to be breastfeeding to come along. Our get togethers are an opportunity to meet other mums, gain support and make friendships. Trained volunteer breastfeeding counsellors are available to answer any questions you might have.
KNITTED BREASTS GROUP PROJECT
The ABA Southern Lakes group has a Group project that helps us raise funds to continue our education and support in the community - we have volunteers who knit and make up KNITTED BREASTS.
They are a fabulous resource for breastfeeding educators around the world. They are used by breastfeeding counsellors, lactation consultants, midwives, breastfeeding educators and other health professionals. We can use them to explain/demonstrate positioning and attachment, hand expressing, the structure of the breast and many other things.
