ActewAGL is Australia's first multi-utility – providing electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services to Canberra and the surrounding region. ActewAGL’s core vision is to become an employer of choice by providing the safest workplace in the Australian utility sector.

ActewAGL’s journey began in 1915 with the Kingston Power House, which supplied electricity for Canberra's water supply at the Cotter Dam. Over the years, ActewAGL has contributed to the building of the capital and has grown and changed with the needs of the city. ActewAGL, in its current form, was set up in October 2000 when the then Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) and ACTEW Corporation, an ACT Government-owned enterprise, entered into Australia's first utility joint venture.

ActewAGL is committed to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that capitalises on the unique skills, attributes and perspectives of all employees. ActewAGL has an equity and diversity strategy, which is designed to assist with recruiting and retaining the best talent and ensuring ActewAGL’s employees are able to maintain a work-life balance. As part of this strategy ActewAGL recently received Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace accreditation. This is just one of the many initiatives designed to recognise and accommodate individual circumstances while balancing ActewAGL’s business requirements.
