eLearning modules for your professional development

The Australian Breastfeeding Association offers online learning modules to help you engage in best-practice breastfeeding support for mothers and their support networks.

Our accredited eLearning modules help keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date and evidence-based.

Learning format

Our eLearning modules are presented in a variety of engaging formats via our online Learner Management System (LMS). These include video and panel presentations with expert speakers, interactive modules and quizzes.

Modules range in length from 1 hour to 5 hours.

New professional development and education opportunities are added on a regular basis and existing content is reviewed regularly, ensuring it remains both current and relevant.

Content development

eModules are prepared by ABA's experienced Learning and Innovation team. Content is based on the knowledge and clinical expertise of guest speakers and the best-available published research, complemented by maternal experiences and the collective wisdom of ABA’s Breastfeeding Counsellors and Educators.

Maintain your professional competency

Many of our eLearning modules are endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives for continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

Practitioners in other professional fields (such as IBCLCs, GPs, maternal and child health nurses and anyone else working with women and infants) are supported to self-record their professional development with ABA.

  • IBCLCs may meet their continuing professional development requirements using educational activities that do not have CERPs assigned. IBCLCs can self-log these hours and should refer to the Individual CERPs Guide for detailed guidance.

  • Learning outcomes and hours are recorded on your Certificate of Completion

  • Speaker conflict of interest declaration forms are available on request from training@breastfeeding.asn.au

  • For more information, check the Registration Standards for your profession

ABA and the WHO Code

The Australian Breastfeeding Association is committed to upholding the World Health Organization (WHO) International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (1981) and subsequent World Health Assembly (WHA) resolutions.

ABA is proud to be a trusted name for health practitioners seeking best practice. Our health professional education is free from commercial influence and conflicts of interest, as defined by the WHO Code and WHA resolutions.
