Are you passionate about championing improvements to the experiences of breastfeeding for mothers and parents in Australia? We are seeking Branch Advocacy Liaisons to sit on ABA's Advocacy Working Group.
The Advocacy Working Group supports key activities to deliver the, 'Championing change' pillar of the ABA Strategic Plan. Comprising Branch Advocacy Liaisons from each ABA branch, the working group translates national advocacy priorities into local action and resources ABA members to advocate on state and local issues.
About the role
As part of ABA's National Advocacy Working Group, you will:
- provide advocacy support and be a point of contact for advocacy within the branch and ensure advocacy activities align with the National Advocacy Strategy
- liaise with the branch president and Advocacy Working Group on branch advocacy priorities and campaign development
- coordinate branch advocacy campaigns and promote and facilitate branch participation in national advocacy campaigns using provided resources
The hours required by the role are flexible. You will need to be able to commit to attending a minimum of six Advocacy Working Group meetings per year and engage in branch advocacy activities between meetings.
Key skills
- Able to self-manage workload to meet operational deadlines
- Working knowledge of digital platforms used by ABA
- A strong interest in the promotion of ABA and protection of breastfeeding through advocacy
- Effective communication and writing skills
- Ability to create and lead a branch volunteer team and contribute to the motivation and achievement of team goals
Location
This is a remote volunteer role that can be done from anywhere in Australia.
