Volunteering with ABA
Why volunteer? Perhaps you have been supported in your own breastfeeding journey and want to give something back. Maybe you are passionate about promoting breastfeeding. You might be looking for mental stimulation and to develop new skills. Or you might want to meet others and make new friends. Whatever your reason, ABA welcomes you.
Check out this video to find out more about what being an ABA volunteer is all about.
From time to time we hold webinars where you can find out more about volunteer opportunities with ABA including the 10998NAT Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education course to train our breastfeeding counsellors and educators.
What our volunteers say
"I love that after my ABA training I can help others as I was helped. Plus I’ve learnt skills that have been useful in all areas of my life, and become friends with some really great people!"
"When I started volunteering for ABA I found my village. I have lifelong friends and continual skill development. There’s nothing quite like the buzz of supporting another mother along her journey."
What the mums they support say
"I was always overwhelmed by the empathy and support I felt when I called Helpline. The reassurance the women on the end of the phone gave me filled me with confidence and hope at times when I had none."
"It was the reassurance and guidance in the haze of the first six weeks from the breastfeeding counsellors, [then] it was the friendship and support from the local gatherings as I got the confidence to head out with my newborn."
