Clinical psychologist Frances Bilbao, director of Mums Matter Psychology, will be joining us as a guest speaker to chat about the connection between breastfeeding and postnatal mental health. She will cover topics such as:
-Common mental health struggles in the postpartum period
-How the way breastfeeding can relate to postpartum mental health struggles varies between mothers
-How breastfeeding can protect mental health
-How breastfeeding difficulties, including pain can trigger or exacerbate mental health challenges
-How we can care for our own mental health
-How mothers can seek help and support
We will have around 20-30 minutes presentation from Frances followed by a time for questions, discussions and social time.
There will be a Breastfeeding Counsellor present if you have an individual breastfeeding question or are needing some support.
This is a very relaxed meet up – it’s fine if you come late/leave early – we know what it’s like to be operating on baby time!
Partners, expectant parents, friends, and children are welcome.
