Disaster events and other emergencies can be unpredictable so being prepared can make a significant difference in how we cope and protect our families. Join us as we share share information and practical ideas on caring for babies and toddlers during emergencies.
No matter how your baby is fed, being prepared for weather events, emergencies and other consequences (loss of power, boil water notices) and challenges related to these is important. At our meet-up, we'll discuss:
🚨 emergencies and natural disasters and how they impact families with babies and young children
🎒 items worth packing if you have to evacuate
👶🏼 infant feeding (breastfeeding, exclusively expressing, mixed feeding and formula feeding) and considerations around this to make it as safe as possible
🤱🏻 health outcomes associated with breastfeeding and how breastfeeding might be impacted by emergencies or weather events This is a free session, facilitated by local volunteers who hold a Certificate IV qualification to offer this education in Gladstone.
All are welcome to attend and we encourage mothers, fathers, partners, support people and those who may work as first responders supporting families. The Australian Breastfeeding Association developed these resources following a research project that was the first of its kind, and we'd love to make sure Gladstone families have access to this information to make preparing for spring/summer simple, practical and effective.
