Natural emergencies (eg bushfire, flood) regularly occur throughout Australia so it's important for families to prepare themselves in case they
are affected.

Older children or adults can survive with only water (or other drink) for several days. However, babies can quickly become very ill if they don’t have the right food. This is why it is very important to have an emergency plan to care for your baby.

We will be discussing:

  • The vulnerability of babies in emergencies
  • How an emergency situation can impact on breastfeeding
  • What you need in an emergency kit (if you need to flee)
  • Some other considerations if you are using formula
  • Power outages and boil water notices
  • How to support others

Connect & Share sessions involve getting together to participate in a facilitated group chat on a particular topic.

After a general welcome and introduction we will have around 15-20 minutes of formal discussion on the chosen topic, followed by informal social time and individual support with a breastfeeding counsellor.

For attendees wanting to find out more on the topic, the facilitator will direct them to supporting ABA resources.

Participants are encouraged to share experiences, ask questions, and provide input.

This is a very relaxed meet up – it’s fine if you come late/leave early – we know what it’s like to be operating on baby time!

Partners, expectant parents, friends, and children are welcome.
