National Mothering Week 2026

See mums, hear mums, support mums

Held annually in the week leading up to Mother’s Day, National Mothering Week (NMW) is about highlighting the important role that mums play in building the future of our Australian community. It is also an opportunity to actively listen to mums and reinvigorate the conversation about how to support mums in their vital work.

This National Mothering Week we celebrate and acknowledge the role mums play in creating a positive and functional future society. We want mums to feel seen, heard and supported. We know mums are experts in their own lives, know what they want and need. ABA's policies and advocacy work reflects these mothering realities.

Connect & Share - Am I Still me?

Learn and interact with other parents online, as our breastfeeding educators and counsellors share tips and advice on looking after yourself and getting your mojo back after having a baby.

Sarah, mum to six-month-old and four year old, reached out to ABA after early breastfeeding challenges.

"Young mothers are glazed over in the workplace as people think their priorities are on their family not on their career and this is unfair. Providing opportunities to work outside the standard 9 to 5 is important. ABA's helpline were a kind ear to listen and were really helpful."

"The ABA classes are great especially the amount of information presented to help prepare mums. Having so many avenues through ABA like local groups, helpline and breastfeeding counsellors is really helpful."
