The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is an independent Commonwealth statutory authority established in 1995 to promote competition and protect consumers across Australia.

Our current strategic objectives are to:

  • Protect Australians from harmful products and practices
  • Champion stronger competition in our economy
  • Deliver benefits through right-sized regulation
  • Keep improving how we work.

Through our roles in competition, fair trading and consumer law – as well as product safety, digital regulation and scam prevention, infrastructure regulation and market monitoring – we deliver lasting positive change for consumers, businesses and the Australian economy.

We aim to represent the rich diversity of all Australians and to be recognised as an inclusive employer of choice, where all our employees come to work feeling valued, respected, and free to be themselves. This diversity allows us to harness the broad range of perspectives and experiences our employees bring to our work and drives performance, innovation and productivity and ensures that the contribution of every employee is valued.

The ACCC sought Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Accreditation as part of our broader commitment to building an inclusive, supportive and flexible workplace where employees can balance their work and caring responsibilities. The accreditation aligns with our gender equality priorities and supports our goal of being recognised as an employer of choice for people at all stages of life and work.

We are committed to flexible work arrangements that support employees to balance work and personal responsibilities. We also provide a range of employee entitlements and benefits to support families, including:

  • Part-time work and flexible working hours
  • Flexible working locations and ability to work from home
  • Parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers, and adoption and foster care
  • Paid lactation breaks
  • Free and confidential counselling for employees through our Employee Assistance Program.
