Everybody, from the child health nurse to the person you meet in public, seems to be interested in a baby’s weight. Undue emphasis on weight gains, combined with a lack of understanding of what’s normal, can often lead to unnecessary concern for parents. Comments such as ‘he looks thin; sure your milk is strong enough?’ can make parents feel defensive and worried.
