Some first-time mums today are lucky enough to also have a ready-made village. They feel supported by a network of family, friends and health professionals willing and able to lend a hand and provide help. But this is not the case for all mums and, for many, motherhood can feel isolating and overwhelming. Knowing that a supportive environment is one key to enabling mums to reach their breastfeeding goals, today we’re going to share some ideas and tips to help us find that support and how to manage at times when we don’t have it.
Today's discussion is part of the broader celebration of World Breastfeeding Week - one of the most important weeks in the Australian Breastfeeding Association’s calendar. From 1-7 August each year we join a global campaign to raise awareness among decision-makers, workplaces and the wider community about the importance of breastfeeding and its many benefits. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
A qualified breastfeeding educator or counsellor will be available to answer questions and provide mother-to-mother support.
New members, partners, support persons, expectant parents, older siblings, and children of all ages welcome. Someone is always available to help out with children so you can relax and have a cuppa!
VENUE: 152 Belmont Rd is the street address for the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - we meet in the community hall at the back of the building, so follow our signs around and come through the gate to find us!
PARKING: available at the front and back of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Hall at 152 Belmont Rd, Tingalpa. The entrance to the hall is at the rear of the building.
There are toys and a safe gated space for kids to play. We will share morning tea and a cuppa (both caffeinated and decaf options available!) after our discussion. If you can bring a plate to share, this is always welcome, however please don't feel any pressure to do so, we value your presence however you come!
